7 - Day Uganda Volunteer & Gorilla tours

This tour will start from Kampala in Uganda or Kigali in Rwanda, will have a chance to visit two national parks in Uganda where you shall visit queen Elizabeth National park and Bwindi impenetrable National park, You will have a chance to do game drive viewing in Queen Elizabeth National park, Do gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable National park and have a chance to volunteer at Needy children and Orphan pays a project where one or two days are spent helping the children (www.mwendoprojects.org).

Day 1: Kampala or Kigali in Rwanda to Queen Elizabeth National park

Your guide will pick you up early in the morning. He will also provide briefing on your upcoming safari and afterwards, we make our way to Queen Elizabeth National Park passing through Masaka and Mbarara, which are metropolitan hubs in the western region of Uganda.

Along the way, you can chance upon Ankole Longhorn, a land race breed of cattle distinguished by its horns that can reach up to 8ft from tip to tip. There will be a stopover in Mbarara for a sumptuous lunch and a glass of refreshing Nile beer to cool off the heat.

Day 2 :Wildlife and boat cruise on Kazinga Channel

We set out for an early morning game drive to Kyambura Gorge with the option to do a walking safari. Kyambura, which means the “Valley of Apes” is situated in the far-east corner of Queen Elizabeth National Park. This boasts of breathtaking landscapes and home to an abundant wildlife from primates to wild animals, and birds. During the walk, you are likely to see chimpanzees and other monkeys, hippos, elephants, lions, and birds among many others. At sunrise, chances of seeing lions, hyenas and leopards are high.

The game drive takes 6 hours that will see us driving back to our accommodation ready for an afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga channel that will make us have face to face to hippos, Crocodiles and other wildlife within the water.

Day 3:Chimpanzee Tracking

After breakfast, we board our safari vehicle and make our way to Karinzu forest for Chimpanzee Trekking. This trip is a continuation of the journey through Kagamba, Ntungamo, and finally Kabale town, a place regarded to be the Switzerland of Africa with its magnificent mountain views. We then proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Situated Southwest of Uganda, this park holds the highest number of gorilla population in the world.

You will stay in a cozy eco lodge situated within the community of Rubuguri, between 2 gorilla families of Rushaga and Nkuringo gorilla families. Know that Rushaga gorilla families hold the most number of gorillas than any other family in
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Day 4:Gorilla Tracking & Lake bunyonyi

This day is an adventure for another Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. We begin with an informative orientation from the briefing center. The ranges will conduct the briefing as well as lead you to the forest for a walk in search of Gorillas. An up close encounter with the Mountain gorillas is a once in a lifetime experience-a memory that Uganda will leave with you to cherish.

In the afternoon, we proceed to Lake Bunyonyi and make our way up to Arcadia Cottages, which offers one of the most stunning views of Lake Bunyonyi.

Day 5: Bunyonyi islands or Volunteering & Canoe trekking

Apart from its serene beauty, Lake Bunyonyi is also known as a place for little birds. In fact “Bunyonyi” translates to“place of many little birds”. Lake Bunyonyi encircles 29 islands of various shapes and sizes. You will embark on a canoe trek to enjoy its serene ambiance and breathtaking view, which has made this place synonymous to paradise.

Optional Activities:

This is a chance to visit or volunteer for the underprivileged children of Mwendo where you will be welcomed by traditional dances stemming from its rich history. You can also visit the pygmies community, a member of an ethnic group whose average height is unusually short. An adult man’s average height is less than 150 cm tall.

Day 6:Volunteering & Mwendo Needy children project & Bakiga Culture in Uganda

This day is designed for volunteer activities at Mwendo needy children where you will have a chance to interact with the children, You will donate for their good work they do to help the children, You will help in buying the children scholastic materials, You could get a chance to Sponsor an African child if you have not done so elsewhere in the world, You can help in building and teaching lessons, You can promote sports among the children and they are both girls and boys of all ages.

We intend to raise donations for 400 Children and their 14 teachers.

Day 7: Travel Back to Kampala or Kigali in Rwanda

On this day we will travel back to Kampala or Kigali in Rwanda after great memories and subsequently end of the safari in Uganda.
